Eggcentricities

Marilyn Osgood of Santa Barbara, one of our own club members, designed this egg for Westlake seminar 2002. The original was done on an ostrich egg. This one is a rhea egg. It beaded quite nicely and I was able to finish up at home with no problem. I wanted the underneath area to be visible, too, and couldn't find an appropriate base, so removed the egg holding part of a simple stand and just glued the free legs to three points on the underneath of the egg, after antiquing them, and set the egg on a mirror. Marilyn was worried that the egg would tip, but it seems to sit solid enough. We are fortunate in our club to have her as a teacher.
