Eggcentricities

This egg was more fun than I've had in a long time, including all the trials and tribulations it caused me. The egg was a kit I had purchased at the Westlake Village, CA eggshow (now Woodland Hills, CA), and wasn't pleased with what I'd done so decided to kit bash the thing and start all over and detail it out this time. The egg is lighted and plays "The Entertainer". The inside paint job has chinks in the plaster and the floor is painted wood planks. The back bar is a photograph from a volume set of western books that I have. The cue rack on the left side wall is toothpicks and scrap pieces of wood. The pool table is also wood with toothpicks for legs and is covered with green felt. The balls are Fimo clay. The cue sticks are sanded down dowels and the pockets are clay. There's a broom and mouse in the corner. My egg "people" are mostly quail eggs. I like to call them my Ms. Mae West, Jack Elam, Clark Gable, and Charles Bronson. The outside is crackled and painted to look like wood slats. This is where the trouble came in...the paint did not want to stick to the ostrich egg, let alone the Hyde glue that I was using for the crackling. The saloon doors are painted accordingly. The top sign is a piece of scrap wood and named after the Corner Bar in my home town of Baker, Montana, including the first proprietor, Mr. C. S. Way. Only thing missing up there is a set of deer antlers, and I can't find a spitoon. Keep forgetting to make the antlers. The whole thing sits on a piece of burl wood and turn table that is covered with wood planks and has "nails". The battery is covered by a homemade box, with the switch being on top.
