Eggcentricities

This was a very fun paper toling class taught by Diane Angle of Oregon. She is also a former member of my egging club here in California. I've learned much from her and Debbie Botts and consider them both my mentors, whether they realize it or not. They both were instrumental in getting me hooked on clay as well as paper. Diane via a going away gift for a former club president in which she created this cup with an egging lady sitting on top. I was hooked. Debbie is just fabulous with clay and is a good teacher and has written some books, too.

The owl itself took six prints to complete, starting with the back most parts of the owl and proceeding to the front, with the face and eyes being the last parts. The eyes are coated with Crystal Lacquer. The inside is cork, while the outside is embossed wallpaper cutouts and rubbed with a teacher created stain. The back is a nest built in with a small egg in it and some feathers, with some Spanish Moss to fill in. The base is a candlestick holder that is stained and paper embossed to match.
