Here is Gertie in all her spendor. She is a bit on the frazzled side as she has just finished roasting the turkey for guests that are coming for dinner. Needless to say, she's been cooking all day. I just had the best time working on this kit, and I learned tons of tips and a few short cuts from Cindy. She is a good teacher. To see one of Gertie's many personna's, visit Cindy's Gertie, or her new Gertie In The Garden.
When I got home, I redid Gertie's apron bow and hair. The first bow got snagged somehow and did not look very good, and on inspection, I found a big glue spot right on the top of her head, so Gertie now wears a double hair knot on the top of her head. I just couldn't leave it the way it was, and short of re-wigging her (wasn't looking forward to it), I did it this way. I hope you like her as much as I do.
The turkey is one of the first miniatures I ever received. Years ago, there was a gal from the south that I corresponded with. I found her ad in one of the miniature magazines. She would write a newsy letter each month and for about $3.50, would send miniatures. Very nice ones and mostly made from clay. I have since lost track of her. I wish I had the name so that I could give her credit for the delicious looking turkey that Gertie is holding.
